Este proyecto toma como base para su desarrollo una investigación previa sobre obras de arte efímero en Madrid, elaborada por el Grupo de investigación NuTAC (ETSAM-UPM) en 2016, que había desvelado la notable influencia de este tipo de prácticas en procesos de transformación urbana. En esta ocasión, se amplia el periodo de estudio para abarcar desde los años de origen del arte urbano madrileño (2000) hasta nuestros días (año 2018). A partir de la elaboración de una base de datos de más de 300 obras artísticas (tanto espontáneas como institucionales), se seleccionan 65 de ellas para llevar a cabo un análisis comparativo más exhaustivo. Todas ellas se representan en el contexto urbano donde fueron ubicadas, para comprender la intensidad de las acciones y su presencia en diferentes puntos de la ciudad. De este modo, se busca demostrar la trascendencia de estas intervenciones en la configuración del espacio público y la vida urbana de nuestros barrios, dando a conocer un patrimonio cultural prácticamente desconocido de la ciudad de Madrid. El objetivo final es la realización de una exposición titulada Arte en la calle Madrid 2000-2018,  que tendrá lugar en la Sala Sur del Centro Cultural Conde Duque, en Madrid.

This project developed out of previous research on ephemeral works of art in Madrid, prepared by the NuTAC research group (ETSAM-UPM) in 2016, which had revealed the notable influence of this type of practice in the processes of urban transformation. On this occasion, the study period extended from the beginning of urban art in Madrid (2000) to 2018. Starting with the development of a database of more than 300 artistic works (both spontaneous and institutional), 65 of them were selected for a more exhaustive comparative analysis. All of the works of art were represented in the urban context where they were located, to best understand the intensity of their interventions and their presence in different parts of the city. In this way, the project sought to demonstrate the significance of these interventions in the configuration of public space and urban life in our neighbourhoods, giving visibility to an almost unknown cultural heritage of the city of Madrid. The final objective was the realization of an exhibition, Arte en la calle Madrid 2000–2018, which took place in the South Room of the Conde Duque Contemporary Arts Centre, in Madrid.
